Once
upon a time there was a young man who met and fell deeply in Love with
a young woman. They, of course, were married. He still loves her
today more than life itself. They are the best of friends and raised 6
children between them. Their children are their whole lives and this
couple was involved in everything their kids were involved in. Since
Dino was in the recreational field of indoor roller skating, their
children were able to be with them a lot of the time. As their
children were growing up, Dino and Laura realized that they would be
going through empty nest so they agreed on a hobby that would keep
them both busy and since they loved their animals, they felt their
especially sweet Persians would be the direction of hobby they choose
to go.
Dino and Laura
researched by traveling to catteries around the country and
incorporating ideas they had gotten from others’ catteries into their
own. They still travel to other catteries to this day, as they are
always learning. The Persians and colors they chose are amongst the
most difficult to breed.
Currently they breed all
color combinations including chocolate and lilac. Their true goal is
to accomplish bi-color Persians in Chocolate and Lilacs. They
currently have Grand Champions at this point in these difficult
colors.
They want to recognize
and thank Patricia Frey of My Ty Cattery who has entrusted her 36
years of breeding legacy into their hands. Her hard work and expertise
with True Chocolates and Lilacs have inspired and enhanced a beautiful
combination and blended well with their own lines.
Dino and Laura do
believe breeding has three major categories; breeding for health,
personality, and looks, in that order. They breed with the philosophy
that you do so to “Better the Breed” and to attain the goals and
criteria established by responsible feline organizations such as CFA,
TICA, etc.
They breed with love of
the breed and will only place show quality kittens or cats in homes of
breeders that will agree to show (in writing), and all others are
placed in good pet homes with references. They believe in PKD DNA
testing all their cats and will only place breeding cats or kittens
with a PKD DNA negative fingerprint. Their integrity means everything
to them so doing the right things is imperative.
Dino and Laura are
currently mentoring and commonly agree to mentor new breeders in
support of the hobby and to ensure the right things are done. Showing
their cats is a big part of breeding as it allows them to keep up on
standards and to make certain they are aware of any feline issues
discussed country wide. This also gives them an opportunity to spend
some time together and have time away from everyday life. They enjoy
meeting new people and spending time with those that share the same
hobby.
Dino and Laura
voluntarily have their cattery inspected by a licensed veterinarian
from two different feline organizations with an “Excellent” rating.
The cattery is part of their home so they interact with the babies on
a regular basis and their quarters are cleaned on a regular daily
basis. Duties are split between them on the care of the cats.
Please be sure to read
the section called "All About Persians". It should explain the rarity
in the colors they breed and the purrrfect personality of the Persian.
